stephaniesĭd announced for 2015 PARMA Music Festival
The Festival is pleased to announce the addition of Asheville, NC–based indie-pop group stephaniesĭd to the performance lineup. Defining themselves as “pop-noir” and described by Billboard as “difficult to classify but easy to love,” stephaniesĭd is known for their organic and genuine style of expression and is noted by NPR's All Things Considered for their “mesmerizing mix of songs that can be hushed and calm one moment, and then suddenly dark and explosive the next.” The group has released four albums, three of which are on Austin, TX–based label Nine Mile Records. Their 2009 album Warm People is described as “complex ... there are layers upon layers of instrumental variety, overlaying vocals, and well thought-out lyrics” (Redefine Magazine). Their fifth full length studio album Excavator is set to release May 2015.
stephaniesĭd’s live performances range from deftly focused, emotionally-charged journeys to infectious dance tunes. After performing at Bonnaroo, they were praised for “a rather transcendent set.... The band was different, melodic, quirky, and just plain good.... A sleeper act which hit the mark with an almost Bjork-like panache” (Bonnaroo Beacon). They will perform at the PARMA Music Festival concert on Friday, August 14 at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth, NH.
